NYT Wordle #1145 : My insights

Today the 7th of August 2024 is game 1145 of NYT Wordle. I try and solve this on a daily basis and have done 314 of these over the last couple of years. So here is my Wordle journey for today, which contain my guesses, thought process, few statistics, and of course the ANSWER!

I always start my Wordle with 'Trace'. Let's see what that resulted into:

After the first guess:

⬛🟨🟨⬛

Based on that, the possible sequence of letters with C and A could be

🅒🅐✖✖✖:
Cabin

Candy

🅐✖✖🅒:

Panic

Can't think of others at the moment, so let's try and go with 'Cabin', which would give me a good indication of whether the word could possibly be either 'Panic' or 'Candy', or is it something else.

After the second guess:

🟨🟩⬛⬛⬛

Candy and Panic both eliminated, and I am definitely surprised by this one. Wordlebot rates this guess 92/99 in terms of skill, so I suppose it's not a bad guess. So I will have to think of more possible formations now.

✖🅐🅒✖✖:

Wacky

Macho

Macaw

I doubt there are any other possible placements for 'C' and 'A'. 'Macho' seems to be more probable for some reason, but Macaw seems like the best guess to verify both W and M, which seem like letters which could constitute more words outside my vocabulary.

After the third guess:

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Must say, I got lucky with the last guess. Was almost sure it was 'Macho'! It could also have been something like 'Havoc', which I did not take into account.

This is how Wordlebot rates my solution for today:

Based on the statistics, only 7.6% managed to do this in 3 tries and 5% got it wrong in the last attempt. Even Wordlebot took 4 attempts for this. Definitely not an easy one today. But happy to have improved on my score marginally to 3.257 guesses on average.

See you tomorrow!
