NYT Wordle #1154: How I solved it

Today, the 16th of August 2024, is game 1154 of NYT Wordle. I try to solve this daily and have completed 323 of these over the last couple of years. So here is my Wordle journey for today, which includes my guesses, thought process, some statistics, and, of course, the ANSWER!

I always start my Wordle with 'Trace'. Let's see what that led to:

After the first guess:

⬛🟩🟩🟩🟩

Can't hope to get any more lucky! I am pretty confident that there are just two more solutions left, 'Grace' and 'Brace'. Therefore, no point beating around the bush. I will go for 'Brace' and hope that it's correct. If not, I'll go for 'Grace' in my third attempt.

After the second guess:

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩

Wow, the stars aligned for me beautifully today. 99/99 on skill but I have to say, it had more to do with luck!

And check this out, I beat Wordlebot by 2 guesses. I don't think I have ever achieved that feat!

All in all a fairly easy one today. It could be a bit unlucky for some if they are left with something like ⬛🟩🟩🟩🟩 or 🟩🟩🟩⬛🟩 after the 5th guess and it's a toss up between Brace, Grace, Trace, Brave or something on those lines. 

Anyway, a 2/6 brings my Wordle average down to 3.253!
